Maine Rock Gym is a specially designed and highly controlled area that allows people of all ages to safely experience the sport of rock climbing and to take it to what ever level they desire. Our climbing facility is made up of many different walls, with more than 5,000 square feet of rock like textured climbing surface. These walls have thousands of (holds) which provide grips for hands and stances for feet. A rope goes to the top of the wall and through an anchor; this rope is attached to a climber and then comes down to a partner called a 'belayer' who pulls the slackening rope through a friction device. If the climber falls, the friction device allows the belayer to easily arrest the fall. This "top rope" protection provides a proven safe and fun climbing experience.

Indoor climbing is a great thrill and challenge for all ages and abilities! In addition to being just plain fun, the gym provides an excellent place to increase self-esteem, develop team building, communication and problem solving skills.
