HEALTY KIDS Kids love to climb, Rock Gym Climbing is safe! At Maine Rock Gym we encourage the kids aged 4 and up to participate in a healthy, fun, physical activity. Climbing gives a great sense of achievement. Confidence will increase as the climbing ability increases. Gym climbing is also a social activity, come with friends or make new friends. Encourage one another to achieve new goals, climb routes you only dreamed of climbing a few short weeks earlier. All this can be achieved in our gym under the careful supervision of experienced, committed like minded staff, who are always on hand to give advice and encouragement. We have designed the following programs specifically for kids! |

| 2010 - 2011 After School Program: Maine Rock Gym wants to share our passion of climbing with all ages and abilities, so we have created a series of progressive after school programs that cater to the needs of specific age groups to maximize the climber's experience. Our instructors are experienced with teaching and coaching all ages of kids and believe in the benefits of climbing. The confidence and character that the sport of climbing builds is unparallel with any other sport. We build confidence, trust, focus, and physical fitness while always making sure to have tons of Fun. The After-School Programs are 10 weeks long, one 1.5 hour session per week and are from 3:30pm-5:00pm. We offer low instructor to student ratios to allow for more individualized attention. In addition, parents of kids in the program receive a free Basic Safety/Belay class. Ages 6-10: Tuesdays and Wednesdays - Description: In this class we start teaching climbing fundamentals to build a solid base of understanding. We start to focus on Teamwork through the use of climbing games and systems. Focus is a big part of climbing and we work with students to guide them through a series of climbing difficulties so they have an awareness about their capabilities The development and improvement at this age will be great. Their level of confidence will soar. If the students are not hooked on climbing, they will be after this course. Climbing games get more advanced as we progress and so does the level of instruction. Description:
This is the age of influence and we want climbing to help build up kids into their teenage years and beyond. We prepare students for Belay Certifications and their responsibilities as a safe climber. Beginner? Advanced? Does not matter in this class because we are going to get into multiple levels of climbing instruction and education that will benefit all levels. Their performance will be elevated dramatically with the help of our instructors. Indoor Climbing Camp Experienced staff will provide personal climbing instruction in our 5,000 sq ft, air-conditioned facility. Designed for all levels, from first timers to experienced climbers. Children will : Learn the importance of communication and cooperation when climbing. Experience the challenging, rewarding, fun sport of climbing. Gain confidence and enhance concentration levels. Skills Covered: Stretching and Warm-Up, Equipment Instruction, Knot Tying, Climbing Safety, Terms & Technique, Team Work, Climbing Games. When: Monday – Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm Sessions: Price $150 per child/week 5% off sibling sign ups or 10% off multiple week sign ups. Numbers are limited! Pre-Booking & $100 deposit is essential. Balance due 7 days before first session. Minimum of 4 participants required at each session. Summer Climbing Camp (Ages 11-15) Come and enjoy an adventurous week of rock climbing OUTDOORS! Climbers will spend the first day getting acquainted with each other while learning many new skills in the rock gym. We will then venture outside for the next three days (weather permitting.) Our day trips will take us to the many cliffs of New Hampshire including Cathedral Ledge, Square Ledge, and Jockey’s Cap. Under guided supervision students will learn how to climb, belay, and repel outside. We will all enjoy pizza, snacks, and refreshments upon our arrival back at the rock gym on Thursday evening. Our last night will be spent climbing in relays, participating in closing ceremonies, and sleeping (we hope). Campers will awake to a brief breakfast (muffins, donuts, and juice) before wrapping up at 8:30am, Friday. Our goal is to teach campers the basic skills of rock climbing while enjoying many challenges taught by a professional staff. Emphasis is always placed on safety and learning in a noncompetitive environment. Session 1: July 12-16, 2010 Session 2: July 19-23, 2010 Limited to 12 climbers per session 8:30-4:30 (with the exception of Monday 8:30 - 3:00, and Thursday’s overnight) Fee: $495 Kids Nite This new program is for kids between the ages of 6-12. Bring your kids in to the gym and leave them while you go for a meal/to the store etc. Experienced Maine Rock Gym instructors will belay and teach your kids the correct, safe way to climb in a controlled environment. This program has a limited number of participants to make sure each kid gets the maximum benefit from each session When: Friday 6pm-8pm MAINE ROCK GYM JUNIOR CLIMBING TEAM The climbing team is in its sixth year.
